The Power of Online Gaming

I had the wonderful experience of marrying Mark and Jennifer this past Saturday at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club in Whiterock, BC.

What a story - They met through an online gaming experience. Developed a relationship via the internet and eventually got together for real. Quite amazing how 2 people from opposite sides of the continent can connect over a video game and fall in love.

The wedding itself was held indoors and the ceremony was performed in front of a huge fireplace. The bride look stunning and the groom was doing okay himself. Even thou the nerves were high everyone did a great job and in the end I had the honor of pronouncing Mark and Jennifer, husband and wife.

Nancy, my wife, was able to join us for the evening and at the request of Mark and Jennifer we participated in the reception and enjoyed very much getting to meet their family and reacquainting ourselves with some old friends - It's a small world.

Thanks for allowing me to perform your ceremony and I wish you all the best in the years to come.

The story of Mark & Jennifer is something out of a futuristic romance novel. They met in cyberspace, just by 'chance', dated via the internet, visited in person a few times, and (long story short) in 3 years are a happily married couple. Because Jennifer is an American, she did not have any connections here in Vancouver, and Mark wanted someone to marry them who they would both connect with. Well, we found Rick Parks through a referral. He was great. I made the initial contact with him and he met up with the engaged couple. He is very friendly, approachable and professional. He gave lots of guidance and suggestions for the ceremony. His website is a wonderful resource setup to help design your vows, readings, prayers, etc. At the ceremony, he did a great job relaxing the couple, and relating to the guests. He drew us all in to the ceremony with his great sense of humour and engaging demeanour. As the mom I was very impressed with it all. I highly recommend Rick (and by the way his wife is really awesome too!).

Rick was such a pleasure to work with. From the first meeting we had with him and the overview it was so easy to plan out exactly what we wanted in our ceremony in every aspect. Meeting him that day made me relax so much about any worries that would arise from the wedding planning. Having him at the ceremony and his wonderful sense of calm made it easy to try to relax and focus more on the vows and my husband rather than the nerves of being in front of many people I had never met before. We couldn't have picked anyone better to do our ceremony, it was a dream of mine to plan out the vows and readings and not just have the traditional ceremony and Rick delivered it so well. THANK YOU RICK! :)
